Fx5 Journey was co-founded out of the re-purposing of two successful and complimentary careers – one in nonprofit health and human services, and the other in process change management. We believe that life is a journey toward our best selves and that every person is already equipped to do life well. A strengths-based approach coupled with organizational processes are tools for the road.
Meet the Team
Linda A. Thompson, MHSA
Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach
DISCIPLINE * CONNECTEDNESS * RELATOR * INPUT * RESPONSIBILITY
Through my experience as a senior leader and manager in the purpose-driven fields of philanthropy, nonprofit, education, human services and healthcare, I realized my drive and capacity to build, lead and coach high performing teams by leveraging individual strengths. When I learned how to identify and aim individual and team strengths with CliftonStrengths, I became motivated to bring this highly effective tool to others.
Initially I championed and lead a team-based pilot implementation of the CliftonStrengths full 34 followed by organization-wide implementation at a philanthropic organization across two states. To ensure integration with the company culture, I became Gallup-certified along with two colleagues. Strengths was also incorporated in onboarding and performance management structures. As I branched out to bring CliftonStrengths to other mission-driven organizations and individuals, I remembered the deep personal satisfaction experienced in my early career days. Back then I put my BS degree in nutrition to use, first as a certified lactation consultant coaching expectant and new mothers, and later as weight loss counselor. Reconnecting with satisfying experiences working one-on-one to help others achieve their goals led me to become a Strengths coach who helps people use strengths in 5 key areas of life that help them do life well.
Acting from my passion and call to help people lead lives of faith and purpose, I help people one-on-one or in small groups learn and grow in their knowledge of their own unique gifts. I assist clients to develop and focus on goals they have for their faith formation, family and friend relationships, nourishment, health and productivity. At Fx5 Journey, the F x 5 is shorthand for Faith, Family & Friends, Food, Fitness and Fruitfulness (productivity). Through a deeply thoughtful yet practical approach, my clients realize and aim their talents toward the vision for their best self.
As a coach, I leverage my top 5 strengths toward my clients’ success by bringing order and structure to bolster progress towards goals (Discipline). I envision talents working together and help make these theme linkages visible and applicable (Connectedness). I approach coaching with a genuine desire to understand a client’s goals and aspirations, along with challenges that could stand in the way (Relator). When information is needed, I quickly find the right information, resources and tools (Input). Clients can count on me to be prepared to coach with professionalism and integrity, maintain confidentiality and follow through on coaching commitments (Responsibility).
Leaning deeper into other dominant talent themes, my Deliberative strength can guide deep consideration of choices and decisions; my Focus keeps coaching on track; with Intellection I guide reflective thinking about each person’s use of their talent themes; my Belief serves to find purpose; through Individualization, I see each person’s unique contribution within the context of others and their unique contributions; with my Learner I quickly identify what I need to know in each coaching situation; my Consistency provides a reliable expectation of the coaching format allowing clients to be at ease with the process; and my Achiever will bring vital energy to my coaching efforts.
When I am not working with Fx5 Journey clients you can find me spending time with my grandchildren, growing food on my hobby farm (tntfamilyfarm.com), providing hospitality as an AirBnB host (click here), partnering with my spouse’s creativity on Etsy (link coming soon) or out and about in our RV.
